We’ve seen the frozen scooped-out half lemon filled with lemon ices. Giacomo d’Alessandro, an owner of Polosud, a gelateria that opened this summer in Little Italy, has applied that template to avocados. He fills empty avocado shells with lush, creamy and lemony vegan frozen avocado purée. A scooplet of a contrasting flavor, like hazelnut or coffee, simulates the pit.
Pastry chef Giacomo D’Alessandro developed the avocado base using a blend of fresh avocados, water, sugar, lemon, and cinnamon which is scooped into an avocado shell and topped with a “pit” made from gelato.
Non-vegan topping options are available and each Avocado gelato is custom made on demand for every single customer. Prepared in limited edition ... only 40 a day !
The experience includes: An informative and entertaining 90-minutes gelato class with our Award winner Gelato Chef Giacomo d’Alessandro, learn more about our real, artisanal Italian gelato, our ingredients, the balancing of flavors and the tradition behind the traditional Italian gelato made in small batches.
Work in pairs to create fresh gelato flavors (each pair will work on the flavor, making an equal portion of each batch) completely from scratch! 1 Kg (2,2 Pounds) per person of the gelato flavors made in class to take home and enjoy (a $36 value).

All of our products are locally sourced, yet the gelato is made according to the Italian tradition and process. We use only the best raw products to create authentic Italian gelato. Our 21 distinctive flavors can be enjoyed on their own or served in a “frappe” -an Italian milkshake- or in a “Brioche with Gelato”, our unique twist on the classic Sicilian “brioche”.
Although gelato is certainly our main passion, we also proudly serve Italian coffee in the traditional style of a “caffetteria” as well as homemade specialty cakes , Original Sicilian Cannoli and Cassate and the classic Southern Italian “ciambellone della nonna”, which makes for the perfect breakfast treat.
We bring straight to you our Italian custom made gelato cart , good for large events , up to 9 flavors , serving up to 300 people.
